When the mysterious witches awaken Macbeth’s ambition, the couple takes the throne by blood - but power brings neither peace nor security. Guilt, paranoia, and fear consume Macbeth, while the bond between them slowly begins to fracture.
But Macbeth is more than a story of one couple’s downfall. As Macbeth’s rule transforms him into a ruthless tyrant with little concern for the people he governs, Shakespeare asks questions that remain deeply relevant: What happens when ambition overtakes morality? What becomes of a society under unchecked power? And why are we still dealing with such power today?
Featuring the work of 30 local actors, designers, and stage managers, this production, directed by Associate Artistic Director Henry Flores, brings Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy into sharp focus for our own moment—and serves as a powerful conclusion to our twenty-fifth anniversary season.
